Pressure
Reducing and check valves or as known in the industry as
(PRV'S), reduce high inlet pressure to steady lower downstream
pressure regardless of changing flow rate and/or varying
inlet pressure. It is a hydraulically operated, pilot-controlled
or direct acting, diaphragm type globe or angle valve.
PRV
SERVICES LTD. has been repairing and rebuilding pressure
reducing valves in many of the high-rise buildings in the
greater Toronto area for the past 20 years. Property Management
companies being our main customers call on PRV SERVICES
LTD. to do annual inspections and service where necessary
to make sure proper pressure is being sent to all mechanical
equipment and on to the tenants of the building.
Some
symptoms of a failing PRV are as follows:
Low
water pressure in suites
High
water pressure in suites
Hot
and Cold water mixing in showers, etc.
Mechanical
equipment including boilers and chillers require constant
water pressure flow to maintain optimum efficiency. Interruption
will cause expensive repair or replacement loss. Pressure
Reducing Valves are a crucial part of a building's mechanical
system, distributing water throughout.
Many
pressure reducing valves (PRV'S), that are not functioning
properly can be in most cases easily serviced and/ or rebuilt
on site without a building shutdown. Only as a last resort
should you cut out and replace with a new valve. Most manufacturers
in the last 5 to 7 years have made significant improvements
to the PRV including epoxy coating, etc.
